Frankland Estate is a second-generation, family-run winery led by siblings Hunter and Elizabeth Smith, alongside Elizabeth’s husband, Brian Kent, who has guided winemaking since 2010.
Having grown up on Isolation Ridge, we share a deep, intuitive understanding of the vineyard and its wines - from vine to barrel, bottle to glass. That closeness gives us the confidence to question, refine and evolve, always in pursuit of expressing the site at its best.
We owe much to our parents, Judi Cullam and the late Barrie Smith, who first planted vines here in 1988. Their vision established the foundations of integrity, character and respect for place that continue to shape everything we do.
Living on the land brings both privilege and responsibility. It is where we raise our families, and it drives our commitment to care for the vineyard in a way that will leave it in better condition for the next generation. Daily immersion in the vineyard allows us to respond to the subtle needs of the vines, guiding them towards producing fruit of clarity and balance - the essential starting point for great wine.
Over time, it Is the accumulation of small, thoughtful decisions in both vineyard and winery that defines our wines and sets them apart.
